The Wrenchies by Farel Dalrymple

20575438Homework be damned. I’m bit sick and tired of reading all this assigned stuff. At first I thought I would enjoy a semester of YA reading but now I just want it to be over. To ‘justify’ my blowing off schoolwork, I decided to read something outside of my comfort zone. Cuz I am expanding my mind. Yeah, that’s it. I’m not really a fan of graphic novels but The Wrenchies by Farel Dalrymple has received a lot of positive buzz and I really liked the illustrations, so I figured why not.

Um so I’m not even sure how to review this. Since I have not read other graphic novels, I have nothing to compare it to but uh what was THAT?!?! Magical? Mind-blowing? Evocative? Or maybe it’s just distracted? Unfocused?

There are three distinct stories going on here, in addition to the multiple time lines. You have the present, the future and then the distant future. I sorta think that it all comes together in the end but then it also doesn’t. I’m not sure if I am supposed to be this confused. I did enjoy it and I think this is book 1 of a series. I will most definitely read book 2 in the hopes to be less confused. lol
