The audio book for What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions by Randall Munroe was listed by YALSA (Young Adult Library Services) as one of the best audio book for young adults. So, I figured why not.
Randall Munroe left NASA in 2005 to run his website where he at times scientifically answers absurdly hypothetical questions. This book is the best of the best of those questions and answers. My person favorite was when he explained the science or the guns needs to create a machine-gun jet pack. Followed by “when (if ever) did the sun go down on the British empire?”
So, honestly I don’t know if I could actually read this book. The math and science went WAY ABOVE my head. That is not to say that Munroe talks down to the audience. Quite the contrary. Munroe mixes humor with serious answers to these lovely absurd questions. Munroe goes into lots of details and I am pretty sure I would have skimmed all the math and science parts. However, I loved listening to it and Wil Wheadon does a good job with reading off the math and science parts without it being boring. Defiantly worth checking out.
